The Exiles
comic books
burst on the scene in 2001, bringing whole new worlds
to the comic book super hero venue.
Born from the creative genius of writer Judd
Winnick and artist Mike McKone, the group offered
something for everyone, with each one of the Exiles representing
a different planet in the time/space continuum from which they
were drawn, to perform under the command of the Timebroker.
Their mission is to correct problems that exist
in the multiverse, a fictional set of multiple universes that
comprise all physical existence. One of the key factors in ensuring
continuity of the Exiles comics, is that each time one of the
main characters is killed, another is drawn from a different
world to replace them.
The first issue of The Exiles comic books was
titled "Down the Rabbit Hole", and featured the original
six characters: Blink, Mimic, Magnus, Thunderbird, Nocturne
and Morph. Then as with so many of Marvel
Comics creations, The Exiles crossed paths with the
X-Men in issues 28-30, where they would eventually have a run-in
with Weapon X, a mirror image of The Exiles, but with darker
purposes.
In later issues 69-82, The Exiles comic books
featured the teams' travels to various worlds, conquering and
re-claiming them from the evil forces that threatened them in
a number of previously printed Marvel comics.
The New
Exiles was a a relaunch of the series with Chris Claremont
as the writer.
