Comic Books
Avengers, Captain America, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and many more
Finally, the X-Men comics have returned to your comic shops. I suppose that
there would be
some suspense and some shocks if the annual hadn’t been released and was already
describing what was about to happen. Marvel comic book Instead, I think we kinda
know what’s up and
where things are leading to.

But if you haven’t read the Marvel Comics annual yet (or my amazingly
good review), you’re still in the
dark concerning what’s happening and what will happen. And for those people,
here’s
the summary.
Marvel Comics
Last comic issue, a crazy Comics, anti-mutant woman
named Ms. Nova let loose huge Sentinels on
Genosha, Marvel Comics the home of half the mutant population world-wide.
The number of living
mutants dropped exponentially as the X-Men watched in horror. "Marvel Comics"
Wolverine and
Cyclops were able to capture the villain, but not before she had unleashed the
horror.
Let's just call it Marvel comics.
We start off with a comic
perhaps, far too anatomically correct cover portrait of Emma Frost comics.
And yes, once again, I have absolutely no idea how her costume actually holds
up But it
will draw some Marvel attention.
And if you thought that was a Marvel
dramatic image, check out the front page. Beast is Marvel
Comics
Marvel's Phoenix is here as well, and apparently they’re standing in what
used to be Magda
wandering through the chaos and destruction and is surrounded by skeletons, one
of
which he is talking to. It’s sick gallows humor at it’s finest, but it struck
me as somewhat
out of character
Square. Instead of the huge, ornate structure where Magneto faced off against
the
X-Men just a few issues ago, it’s now a big pile of radioactive dirt and bones.
Beast is
using the sick humor to maintain his sanity amidst this horrible site, and he
figures that
Marvel Cerebra is wrong - there aren’t any living mutants here.
Marvel's Phoenix tells
him that Cyclops and Wolverine have caught the person who did this and
then senses thoughts underground. She can sense really familiar thoughts and
knows that
there’s someone underneath the rubble. They head to what used to be the high
school,
ignoring the rude people aiding as well. She uses her powers to lift up some
rubble and
then Beast grabs hold of a larger piece of rock.
Xorn comics, a brand new mutant
whom the team discovered in China, and Cyclops have been taken prisoner by the
Shi'ar and are being held on their Superdestroyer. They are hanging, upside
down, over a portal that gives them a great view of the Earth from space. Xorn
wonders if this is normal for an X-Man, but Cyclops reminds him that the Shi'ar
are normally very friendly to mutants.

One of the guard, G-Type, who seems to be some sort of cleric, orders them
to shut up before they are purified by atmospheric cremation. Which, in laymen's
terms, means that they're planning on shooting them into the atmosphere.
Just then, Marvels Xavier (or Cassandra
masquerading as Xavier) enters the room. Apparently all the cool effects that
were used two issues ago to show the chaotic whirlwind surrounding him/her have
been thrown out Marvel comic book company
and now they're just coloring him blue. I guess it's not just the pencils that
were rushed.
Cyclops tries to reason with the others, but it's obvious that Nova has taken over everyone's mind and they're following what s/he's telling them to do. S/he's decided that the best thing to do is exterminate everyone suffering from this 'psi-plague' and then attempt to recreate them from their dead cells on another planet.
They accuse Marvel Cyclops
of being mad (by that I mean insane) and G-Type blasts him. Xorn is very confused,
and doesn't understand why his friend is being treated this way. I like this
little character bit - it would make perfect sense that his character is more
than a little naive, and not used to dealing with such threats. Marvel's 1
Marvel is still a huge comics publisher.
Cyclops once again tries to reason with Lilandra, who's trying to fight the
mind control but isn't succeeding. She finally succumbs completely, spits in
Cyclops' face, and reiterates the order - kill every mutant on Earth. Marvel still has that.
Marvel Comics
Which is where we go next. A few members of the Imperial Guard are flying around
the ground of Xavier's school, trying to find as many mutants as they can. One
of them, Neosaurus, notes that everything is going as planned - except that
it's way too cold for him. He complains that since he's cold blooded, these
trips to freezing environments are horrid for his artificial systems. All he
wants is to be treated with respect.
Which cues an attack from Wolverine, claws slashing through his brain. Was there
anyone out there who didn't see that coming?
